Nexus Education Schools Trust (NEST), is proud to announce that one its member schools, Pickhurst Infant Academy, has been selected by the Department for Education to become one of 87 Teaching School Hubs across the country.
Pickhurst Infant Academy has led the highly successful EYELA Teaching School for over eight years. It has established learning programmes and network partners across the region, serving the needs of leaders and teachers. The work of the teaching school, and its partners, has ensured that educators and leaders across the region have been able to research, learn, collaborate and develop the skills and knowledge that enable pupils and young people to achieve the highest outcomes.
From September 2021, the new Teaching School Hub will be responsible for ensuring that teachers from schools in Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich have access to high quality training and development, whatever the stage of their career. The Teaching School Hub will play a significant role in the delivery of initial teacher training, the introduction of a new early career framework, supporting teachers through the first two years of their development and leadership development through the National Professional Qualifications for school leaders.
The development of our Teaching School Hub is an opportunity for us to be part of a ground breaking, collaborative and sustainable system-led school improvement network. We look forward to working and learning with our new and existing partners to ensure that teachers and leaders across Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich have access to excellent professional and career development opportunities.
